Educated at the prestigious French Equestrian School, as well as the renowned
National Riding School at Saumur, France
, Nathalie Guion has devoted her professional career to the nurturing and development of young riders, as well as adult equestrians. To effectively convey her classical and practical knowledge, she has devoted a portion of her studies to pedagogy and sports psychology. She believes that horsemanship offers a lifetime of sport, and a lifetime of learning. Nathalie conveys her knowlege of equine in many ways through teaching, training, lecturing, and giving clinics at numerous locations. When present at SCEC, she provides for the oversight and care of our bred and boarded horses and is available for private one on one lessons and consultations.
For the past fifteen years, Nathalie has managed riding schools, pony clubs, pony camps, and private barns. Currently coaching Marin County’s Redwood Pony Club to many top honors, Nathalie's work with young riders is complimented by a sizeable clientele of adult riders and drivers of all levels and ages.
In addition to her regular teaching activities, Nathalie is also the coach of the West Coast Pentathlon team. In 2007, she was invited to spend a week at the US Olympic Traning Center, helping coach members of the US Olympic Pentathlon Team.
With her extensive background in the instruction and managing of Pony Club stables throughout the world, Nathalie is much in demand as a visiting clinician.
Her book,
Naty's Riding Games
, was developed after years of study and a desire to incorporate a philosophy of fun into a goal-oriented riding program. These innovative games on horseback received the stamp of approval from the United States Pony Club, where high standards are the not just a buzzword—they’re required. In addition to teaching, Nathalie is adept in the acquisition, sale, and traning of ponies and horses. She specializes in Connemara ponies, as well as Morgans, and warmbloods.
In July, 2007, Nathalie competed for the first time in the Tevis Cup. Known as the world’s longest—and most grueling endurance ride, Nathalie finished the 100-mile race 40th in over 200 entries. This experience inspired her to develop Sonoma Coastal EquesTraining™, her innovative cross-training program designed to improve the balance, suppleness, and attitude of any horse, in any discipline.
